Adolfo Suárez was the first president of the government in the democratic Spain of the Constitution of 1978. He was President of the Government from 5 July 1976 to 26 February 1981. During his tenure the Spanish Constitution was drafted and the transition from Franco’s dictatorship to the parliamentary monarchy of King Juan Carlos I took place. Adolfo Suárez died on March 23, 2014. His burning chapel was installed in the Parliament. In addition to the highest personalities of the State, thousands of citizens came to say goodbye, forming queues of more than 5 kilometres.
