Hari Raya Haji

Hari Raya Haji is the Malay name for the Muslim festival of Eid al Adha or “Feast of Sacrifice”. It celebrates Abraham’s acceptance of sacrificing his son Ishmael at the command of Allah, which is related in the Bible. Allah gave Abraham a lamb to sacrifice instead of his son. Since then on that day animals are ritually sacrificed giving thanks to Allah for the sons and daughters who have been born during that year. Part of the meat is given to the community that goes to the mosque.
