Panata

Panata means Devotion in Tagalog, one of the languages of the Philippines. During Holy Week, the Passion of Christ is celebrated in the small town of San Pedro Cutud. Rubén Enaje was saved from a serious fall while painting a wall. Since then he has been nailing himself to the cross to thank God. These photos correspond to the 25th anniversary of this Devotion. During those days the town fills with people, with cameras, with reporters… However, Rubén affirms that he would continue doing it even if no one was there, because it is part of his tradition.
